Considerations for Conducting Research and Evaluation with Sexual Assault Survivors
Presenter: Jessica Shaw, Ph.D. is trained as a community psychologist with specializations in evaluation, and organizational change and development. Dr. Shaw’s research focuses on improving community and system responses to sexual assault by relying on researcher-practitioner partnerships to facilitate empirically-informed, sustainable change.
Objectives
- Discuss the value and role of collecting data from sexual assault survivors in research and evaluation on the response to sexual assault.
- Review existing research on sexual assault and trauma survivors’ experiences participating in research.
- List and discuss key decisions and considerations in designing and implementing a research or evaluation project that may include data collection with sexual assault survivors.
